Tragus Subtle Precision
The tragus is the small pointed cartilage projection at the entrance of the ear canal. A tiny gemstone flat-back here makes an unexpectedly dramatic statement.

How We
Approach This
The tragus piercing occupies one of the most unique anatomical positions of any ear piercing. Because of its small size and curved shape, placement requires particular precision — too far in or out and the jewelry won't sit correctly. Our artists are trained to use a curved receiving tube to safely guide the needle through this tight space. Post-piercing, the tragus typically experiences brief but noticeable swelling, which subsides within the first week.
Curved Technique
We use a curved needle technique with a receiving tube to navigate the tragus safely and minimize tissue trauma.
Micro-Jewelry Design
The tragus pairs best with tiny flat-back gems — 2mm to 3mm — that hug the cartilage without protruding.
Expect Swelling
Initial swelling is normal and expected. We always size starter jewelry slightly longer to accommodate it.
Step by Step
A transparent, clinical process — no surprises.

We measure your tragus cartilage to confirm it's suitable for the placement and select appropriate needle gauge and jewelry.

- Do not sleep on the pierced ear — use a travel pillow
- Expect mild swelling for the first 7–10 days
- Never apply pressure to the cartilage while healing
- Hair washing: let warm water run over the piercing gently
- Do not change jewelry for a minimum of 9 months
Tragus FAQ
Can I still wear earbuds after getting this piercing?
Avoid in-ear buds on the pierced side during healing. Over-ear headphones that don't press on the tragus are acceptable after week 2.
What if I use hearing aids?
Discuss this with us at consultation. We may recommend delaying the piercing or adjusting the placement to accommodate hearing device use.
Why is my tragus swollen?
Initial swelling is completely normal. It typically peaks at day 2–3 and subsides by day 7. If it persists beyond 2 weeks, contact us.
