How We
Approach This
Navel anatomy varies significantly from person to person. Outies, deep navels, and navels with limited rim tissue may not be suitable for a traditional navel piercing — we assess this at consultation. For suitable anatomy, we pierce the upper rim of the navel using a curved barbell, angled to follow the natural slope of the tissue. Navel piercings are surface-adjacent, making them susceptible to movement and irritation if not properly sized.
Anatomy Suitability
Not all navels can safely host a piercing. We assess your rim tissue depth and angle before proceeding.
Curved Barbell Sizing
The barbell length and curve are selected to precisely match your navel anatomy — too long or short causes unnecessary migration.
Clothing Awareness
High-waisted pants and clothing bands are the primary cause of navel piercing irritation. We advise on wardrobe adjustments.
Step by Step
A transparent, clinical process — no surprises.

Navel Assessment
We examine your navel anatomy in a standing position — the shape changes significantly from sitting to standing and affects jewelry selection.
- Sterile single-use needle
- Client-approved marking
- Implant-grade starter jewelry

Rim Marking
Two dots are placed — entry at the top of the navel rim and exit inside the navel. You review in mirror before piercing.

Curved Barbell Placement
A single-use needle passes cleanly through the rim tissue. A titanium curved barbell is placed and the balls secured.

What We
Put In You
We exclusively use implant-grade materials. Below are the typical starter jewelry options for your Navel piercing.
Healing Instructions
- Saline spray twice daily — spray directly onto the piercing top and bottom
- After showering, gently dry the area with a hair dryer on cool setting
- Wear loose, high-cut tops that don't sit on the piercing
- Avoid high-waisted jeans or pants for 3 months minimum
- Never sleep face-down on a fresh navel piercing
- Avoid swimming pools and the ocean for 8 weeks
- The navel piercing is prone to snagging — be mindful of clothing, bags, and seatbelts
Navel FAQ
I have an outie — can I get a navel piercing?
Traditional upper rim placement is usually not suitable for outie navels. We may be able to discuss alternative surface placements.
How long until I can show it off at the beach?
We recommend avoiding salt water and sun exposure on a fresh navel piercing for 8 weeks minimum.
What if my pants keep rubbing against it?
Use a piece of soft medical tape over the barbell during high-friction activities like exercise or travel to protect the healing tissue.
